Last weekend I went to a wedding with my boyfriend. His niece (whom I’ve only met once) was getting married. I wasn’t very excited to go at first because first of all I hardly know them and second of all they asked for everyone to dress up in “elegantly casual” including a pretty hat for the females and a 3-piece suit for the males.
Since I don’t have a nice hat I was slightly worried that I would be the only one who would stand of in the crowd. But since I’ll never wear it anyways I didn’t want to spend any money on a new hat that I would only wear once. I did wear a small flower in my hair so I wasn’t completely ‘naked’. My boyfriend only bought a new shirt to wear.
The wedding was about a 75 minute drive away so we could meet up with our side of the family and had some nice lunch before the official ceremony before everyone else arrived. Everyone looked really nice and thankfully they all loved the way we looked also.
After a nice lunch we went to the church and saw the rest of the guest for the wedding. Most of the females were wearing some cute little hats, but some of them were also wearing hair accessories. The men were all wearing suits with jackets except for my boyfriend. So he did stand out a little, but it was already hot outside so that could be a good excuse why he wasn’t wearing a jacket.
The ceremony in the church was very formal and took too long if you ask me. Thankfully the Pastor was very young and joking about how he would teach them how to read their bible through Skype classes and social media. That was quite funny. The bride and groom both looked very pretty and happy and it was so enjoyable to watch.
After the official part, the ‘yes’, ‘rings’ and ‘kiss’ it was time for the party. We went to a very cute looking romantic apple garden which was transformed. They’ve placed little tables with cute wooden chairs all through the garden, with pretty blue flowers hanging in the trees.
Blue glasses and enough drinks for everyone. Even fresh fruit drinks from the garden. They also made a cute Polaroid picture of you when you’ve arrived which you could put into their wedding book and leave a cute note next to it.
The wedding cake was huge and delicious, the best cake I’ve EVER had! Simply perfect! People were dancing, doing speeches and just having a great time. The atmosphere was super relaxing and very romantic. I absolutely loved it and I was very happy that I did go to this wedding. It gave me many great ideas on what I would love to have on my wedding. What a surprisingly good day.
These are always the best occasions to go to. At first you feel a bit uncomfortable, but once it gets going it gets going. It´s good to do something out of the box at times!

It was just annoying that they almost forced us to not be ourselves…but in the end we didn’t have to make many big changes to fit in. 🙂
I get you. But even that can sometimes be refreshing!
Im glad you had so much fun 🙂
